DraftKings’ High-Tech Jobs Skills Training Program Now Open for Texas Veterans

“Tech for Heroes” Initiative to Help Former Servicemembers Transition from Military to Civilian Life

BOSTON (September 18, 2018) – DraftKings Inc. announced today that it is expanding its Tech for Heroes initiative to Austin, Texas. The eight-week course, beginning October 9 and offered free of charge, is designed to provide high-tech job skills training to current and returning veterans and military spouses, so they can expand their knowledge base and find gainful employment in the tech sector.

“The Tech for Heroes program was designed with one goal in mind–help veterans gain a real advantage in an extremely competitive tech industry,” said Paul Liberman, co-founder and COO of DraftKings. “The skills acquired

through the program can be applied to nearly any company, no matter their size or industry, giving each individual the ability to explore career paths of all types. These individuals have all made tremendous sacrifices in service to our country and this program is one way we are showing our collective appreciation.”

Working in partnership with the national nonprofit VetsinTech, DraftKings launched the company’s first corporate social responsibility initiative in June with its inaugural Tech for Heroes training class taking place in Boston. Last month, the company announced an expansion of the program to San Francisco, California, where it is training more than 30 veterans and military spouses in web development.

“We are excited to continue the expansion of the Tech for Heroes program to Austin. The partnership with DraftKings has allowed us to impact so many veterans and their families all accross the country, and we look forward to the opportunity to bring this life changing training to Texas,” said Katherine Webster, founder and CEO of VetsinTech.

DraftKings’ employees will be working with the veterans to grow their understanding of employment opportunities at high-tech companies and to further support the veteran graduates pursuing careers in tech. Efforts include resume development, career roadmapping and skills translation as well as peer to peer networking.

DraftKings Ready to Tackle 2018-2019 NFL Season

New Ways to Play Fantasy Football on DraftKings Arrive with Millions in Total Guaranteed Prizes

BOSTON (September 7, 2018) — The NFL season is back, and with it are the biggest and best ways to play fantasy football that DraftKings has ever offered. In honor of the NFL’s return, DraftKings will be giving away massive prizes, like its annual millionaire maker contest during Sunday’s main slate for $5 million in total payouts, including $1 million to first place. DraftKings is also introducing brand new ways to play while still offering annual favorites for its busiest sport, which saw more than 90 million paid contest entries last year.

“The return of football is our busiest time of year, and we look forward to it with more anticipation and enthusiasm every season,” said Jeffrey Haas, Chief International Officer at DraftKings. “We are able to tap into the growing NFL fan base around the world, with DraftKings acting as the second screen for people watching games in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Australia. We make it more fun to be a fan because you can compete with other fans at home, in their countries and around the world. DraftKings has been working tirelessly this offseason on several new game modes, including Flash Draft and Team Pick ‘Em, which we cannot wait for our customers to experience.

NFL fans will be able to play fantasy football on DraftKings in many ways, including:

– Flash Draft: Officially launching for Week 4 of the regular season, Flash Draft is a live, in-game concept that introduces a new, rapid drafting style to customers throughout an NFL game. Customers can play before the second, third or fourth quarters begin as well as during the commercial breaks of these same quarters. Once they’ve entered a contest, customers will have five rounds lasting only 15 seconds each to choose from three player options that change from round to round.

– Team Pick ‘Em: This new game style enables fans to “pick” the winners of each game that week, competing with others for shares of a set prize amount. Now those pressed for time can choose winners in a matter of minutes.

– Showdown: Showdown is back for its first full NFL season after debuting for last year’s postseason. In Showdown, customers select players from each team in one single-game matchup, including at least one player from either team, while staying under the $50K salary limit. This can include both offensive and defensive players. DraftKings will also be offering the Showdown Captain variant which features the same game dynamic as the regular Showdown, except one player can be designated to the Captain spot and is eligible for a bonus multiplier.

– Classic: DraftKings’ Classic mode featuring the $50K salary cap requires customers to create a lineup by selecting players listed in the Player Pool, but you must stay under the $50K cap. Customers can draft from all active players who will be playing during the given game slate.

– Tiers: Previously known as “Pick ‘Em,” DraftKings’ Tiers format offers curated lineup constructions without salary cap limitations. In Tiers contests, customers create a lineup by selecting players listed and tiered out in the Player Pool.

– Leagues: Skills can be further honed through private games and contests that can be accessed by just you and your chosen group of friends.

No matter the NFL players and teams that emerge this season, DraftKings is now offering more ways than ever to maximize how fun it can be to play, watch and engage in football, all season long.

DraftKings Moves to Offer Sports Betting After U.S. Supreme Court Overturns Outdated Ban

Daily Fantasy Sports Giant Poised to Become Major Player in New Market

BOSTON, Mass., May 14, 2018 DraftKings, Inc. announced that the company will enter the sports betting market following the United States Supreme Court’s decision today overturning the outdated Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act.

“Our mission has always been to bring fans closer to the sports they love and now, thanks to the wisdom of the Supreme Court, DraftKings will be able to harness our proven technology to provide our customers with innovative online sports betting products,” said Jason Robins, CEO and co-founder of DraftKings. “This ruling gives us the ability to further diversify our product offerings and build on our unique capacity to drive fan engagement.”

DraftKings is well-positioned to capitalize on sports betting, given that it already runs the world’s largest daily fantasy sports mobile platform that includes stringent consumer protections and transparency for nearly 10 million customers. Even with today’s announcement, DraftKings remains fully committed to its popular daily fantasy sports business, which will continue to be a major focus for the company.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans support legalized sport betting and today’s move lifting this antiquated prohibition also opens the door for greater consumer protections and transparency through online wagering. The addition of online and mobile sports betting holds the potential to generate billions of dollars annually for cash-strapped state governments.

“Today’s Supreme Court ruling is welcome news to the millions of Americans who currently wager $150 billion illegally each year through off-shore, black market bookies,” said Robins. “States are now free to allow their residents to place mobile sports bets with licensed, trusted companies based in the U.S. and that pay taxes here.”

In anticipation of a favorable ruling by the Court, DraftKings has been preparing since 2017 to launch a sports betting platform for mobile, providing another advantage for the company. DraftKings is working with state regulatory officials to apply for operating licenses in those states that have already passed legislation authorizing sports betting.

Boston, MA (April 17, 2018) – DraftKings, the world’s leading daily fantasy sports (DFS) platform, today announced the company will begin offering DFS contests to Australian consumers in Q2.

“Within the last few years, Australia’s burgeoning fantasy sports market has dramatically evolved, adding a variety of daily fantasy sports platforms, feeding the appetite of the many passionate sports fans who love getting closer to the teams, athletes and sports they love,’” said DraftKings Chief Executive Officer, Jason Robins. “Australia is an important market for DraftKings, as it combines devoted sports fans with sophisticated, tech-savvy consumers – exactly the kind of people who love competing on DraftKings.”

DraftKings has been granted a government license by the Northern Territory Racing Commission under which it is permitted to offer daily fantasy sports in Australia.[1] According to an article[2] on fantasy sports by King & Wood Mallesons, there are approximately 1.65 million traditional fantasy sports players in Australia.

Australia is the first country outside of North America and Europe where DraftKings will operate and will mark the eighth country where DraftKings is available to consumers. In the U.S. alone, DraftKings has worked with lawmakers and regulators in nineteen states to enact smart regulations and create a transparent environment for its players. The company has been considered a global leader in consumer protections for fantasy sports, ensuring its customers are playing within a fun, safe and fair community.

The Daily Fantasy Sports Experience

Daily fantasy sports enhance the overall sports media market, adding value to nearly all aspects of the sports experience. In a survey of DraftKings customers, almost half of our customers have started following another sport since engaging on DraftKings and nearly 80% of players have increased their sports content consumption. Fantasy sports enthusiasts engage with more content than non-enthusiasts:

  • Two-thirds of our customers say that they engage with DFS because it makes watching sports more enjoyable.
  • 60% of DFS customers report watching games involving teams they don’t usually follow because they are following their fantasy players.
  • 60% of DFS customers watch more live sports and read more articles about sports since they started participating in DraftKings contests.
  • 41% of DraftKings contestants report watching more sports specific TV programs.
