DraftKings and Jägermeister Partner to Launch “The Real Shot” for Soccer

First of its Kind Bracket-Style Soccer Game With an All-Expenses Paid Trip Prize Offering

Boston, MA and White Plains, NY (May 23, 2018) – DraftKings Inc. and Jägermeister today announced they will introduce “The Real Shot,” a bracket-style soccer competition that will let U.S. soccer fans adopt a team to carry with them throughout the world’s biggest international soccer tournament. With this new and exclusive game style, DraftKings and Jägermeister are hoping Americans who don’t have a team in the tournament will adopt one through this engaging product and still have some skin in the game for what is expected to be the most talked about sporting event of the year.

“We are proud to offer sports fans in America an exciting way to be a part of the biggest soccer tournament in the world through this partnership with Jägermeister,” said Ezra Kucharz, Chief Business Officer of DraftKings. “Sports is one of the fastest growing forms of content, accelerated by fan engagement and participation, and we are committed to bringing top-tier content to our extremely engaged customer base.”

How to Play “The Real Shot”:

  • – Start by picking a “Real Shot” team to win the tournament and be placed in that team’s community
  • – Then, pick a winner for each of the 48 matches and accrue points based on DraftKings’ customized scoring system, which will be reflected in two leaderboards: “The Meister Leaderboard,” which includes all fans, and the “Community Leaderboard,” which includes all fans that selected the same team
  • – Players earn extra points by engaging with content on the DraftKings site throughout the competition
  • – All points and rankings from the group play will carry over to the knockout stage
  • – Fans will be tasked with picking a winning team for each game of the knockout phase: Round of 16, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and the Final

Prizing:

  • – Top 500 “Meister Leaders” on the Meister Leaderboard at the end of group play will receive Jägermeister branded prizes
  • – Top five “Community Meisters” on each Community Leaderboard at the end of the tournament will win country-specific prizing from their community team and a Jägermeister branded jacket
  • – The fan that finishes the competition with the most points overall will be named “The Meister” and win the ultimate fan experience: an all-expenses-paid trip to the winning team’s country to celebrate sweet victory like a local. Enjoy a VIP soccer experience, including game tickets, transportation, and swag, plus extra cash so you can roll like a Meister

“With millions of engaged soccer fans in the U.S., Jägermeister, the unofficial shot of football worldwide, believes every fan has a real team and every team has a real shot at winning,” said Chris Peddy, Chief Marketing Officer of Mast-Jägermeister U.S. “We are thrilled to be partnering with DraftKings to launch this first-to-market bracket-style competition that offers consumers a compelling, integrated sports experience and positions Jägermeister as the perfect way to enjoy the game.”

DraftKings Moves to Offer Sports Betting After U.S. Supreme Court Overturns Outdated Ban

Daily Fantasy Sports Giant Poised to Become Major Player in New Market

BOSTON, Mass., May 14, 2018 DraftKings, Inc. announced that the company will enter the sports betting market following the United States Supreme Court’s decision today overturning the outdated Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act.

“Our mission has always been to bring fans closer to the sports they love and now, thanks to the wisdom of the Supreme Court, DraftKings will be able to harness our proven technology to provide our customers with innovative online sports betting products,” said Jason Robins, CEO and co-founder of DraftKings. “This ruling gives us the ability to further diversify our product offerings and build on our unique capacity to drive fan engagement.”

DraftKings is well-positioned to capitalize on sports betting, given that it already runs the world’s largest daily fantasy sports mobile platform that includes stringent consumer protections and transparency for nearly 10 million customers. Even with today’s announcement, DraftKings remains fully committed to its popular daily fantasy sports business, which will continue to be a major focus for the company.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans support legalized sport betting and today’s move lifting this antiquated prohibition also opens the door for greater consumer protections and transparency through online wagering. The addition of online and mobile sports betting holds the potential to generate billions of dollars annually for cash-strapped state governments.

“Today’s Supreme Court ruling is welcome news to the millions of Americans who currently wager $150 billion illegally each year through off-shore, black market bookies,” said Robins. “States are now free to allow their residents to place mobile sports bets with licensed, trusted companies based in the U.S. and that pay taxes here.”

In anticipation of a favorable ruling by the Court, DraftKings has been preparing since 2017 to launch a sports betting platform for mobile, providing another advantage for the company. DraftKings is working with state regulatory officials to apply for operating licenses in those states that have already passed legislation authorizing sports betting.

DraftKings Expands Into Australia

Marks the Fifth International Expansion In Less Than Two Years

Boston, MA (April 17, 2018) – DraftKings, the world’s leading daily fantasy sports (DFS) platform, today announced the company will begin offering DFS contests to Australian consumers in Q2.

“Within the last few years, Australia’s burgeoning fantasy sports market has dramatically evolved, adding a variety of daily fantasy sports platforms, feeding the appetite of the many passionate sports fans who love getting closer to the teams, athletes and sports they love,’” said DraftKings Chief Executive Officer, Jason Robins. “Australia is an important market for DraftKings, as it combines devoted sports fans with sophisticated, tech-savvy consumers – exactly the kind of people who love competing on DraftKings.”

DraftKings has been granted a government license by the Northern Territory Racing Commission under which it is permitted to offer daily fantasy sports in Australia.[1] According to an article[2] on fantasy sports by King & Wood Mallesons, there are approximately 1.65 million traditional fantasy sports players in Australia.

Australia is the first country outside of North America and Europe where DraftKings will operate and will mark the eighth country where DraftKings is available to consumers. In the U.S. alone, DraftKings has worked with lawmakers and regulators in nineteen states to enact smart regulations and create a transparent environment for its players. The company has been considered a global leader in consumer protections for fantasy sports, ensuring its customers are playing within a fun, safe and fair community.

The Daily Fantasy Sports Experience

Daily fantasy sports enhance the overall sports media market, adding value to nearly all aspects of the sports experience. In a survey of DraftKings customers, almost half of our customers have started following another sport since engaging on DraftKings and nearly 80% of players have increased their sports content consumption. Fantasy sports enthusiasts engage with more content than non-enthusiasts:

  • Two-thirds of our customers say that they engage with DFS because it makes watching sports more enjoyable.
  • 60% of DFS customers report watching games involving teams they don’t usually follow because they are following their fantasy players.
  • 60% of DFS customers watch more live sports and read more articles about sports since they started participating in DraftKings contests.
  • 41% of DraftKings contestants report watching more sports specific TV programs.
